Update on my Daith Piercing

March 1, 2020

Today's post is a little different than normal. If you have followed me for awhile you know I suffer from migraines. I have ever since I was a little girl. They have got worse as I've gotten older. Luckily, I did not have them as frequent during my pregnancy but right after I delivered Easton they were back to normal.

On average I get 3-4 migraines a week. Yes, you heard that right. I have learned to live with it. Trust me I have tried everything to make them better and for me the ONLY thing that will ever take one away is my presciption medicine (imitrex, I actually take the generic version), a dark room, sleep, no noise and tons of water.

About a year ago someone had mentioned the "daith" piercing to me. I kind of forgot about it but a month ago I posted about having a migraine and one of my friends messaged me and said. "girl go get your daith pierced!" I was in so much pain and said screw it, let's see if this works.

I went to Body Jewel in Westerville and it was super clean, nice and they were quick. I'm not going to lie to you it freaking hurt like hell. It was more like I felt a ton of pressure but the needle was huge. It was crazy though because when I went in I had a migraine and as soon as she pierced my daith, it didn't take it away but I felt 100x better.

As soon as I came home and told you guys I did it, I got a ton of questions and messages asking about details. I wanted to give it a month before I reported back to you guys. It has officially been a month and I'm so excited to report back GOOD NEWS!

I went from having 3-4 a week to 1-2! AND one week in February I only had 1! This piercing has truly been the biggest blessing. Having migraines is so debilitating and I am so grateful they have decreased.

Q & A

Q- What is a daith piercing?

A- It goes through the second cartilage shelf at the top inside of your ear.

Q- How long does it take to heal?

A- I am a month out and it is still sore but they told me I can sleep on it after 2 weeks. You can also use a travel pillow if you need to sleep on that side! I heard it takes 6-9 months to fully heal.

Q- How do you take care of it?

A- I have a sterile saline spray I spray on it about 2-3x a day! Get the spray if you can it's super convenient.

Q- Why is this known as the "migraine" piercing?

A- The daith is a pressure point associated with digestive organs on that part of your ear. The belief is that wearing an earring constantly in your daith will give constant compression to that pressure point and can relieve pain. While there are not any medical studies I could find, many people have had success with it, like me!

While I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of my migraines completely, this piercing has done wonders for me! If you get it, make sure to tag me on Instagram stories so I can see.  I hope this helps! xo

ALL ABOUT BOTOX

July 6, 2018

Wait you get botox?......Ok good so do I! That's what so many girls have said to me after they found out I started getting botox. It's crazy to me that botox is still such a secret to everyone because it has so many benefits I don't know why you wouldn't do it. Now I'll admit, some people do go overboard but so far all of my experiences have been awesome. Let's get into it.

First of all, what is botox? Botox is a drug used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles.

I recently went to Columbus Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery otherwise known as CAPS here in Columbus and I wanted to tell you guys about my botox experience. After we walked in and got a tour we went in a room and I met with my Doctor, Tyler Angelos. He was not only professional but he was funny. I love when people make me feel comfortable before I'm getting something uncomfortable done, does that make sense? lol. He was very honest and didn't just tell me things I wanted to hear. I love that at CAPS the actual doctors are the ones injecting you.

Dr. Angelos had me hold up a mirror and show him what areas I didn't like about my face. Now let me give you a little back story. I have been getting botox since I was 28, I am 29 now and I always get it in the same three places: my "elevens", my "crows feet" and my forehead. Your "elevens" otherwise known as glabella are between your eyes and your crows feet are the lines you develop next to the outer corners of your eyes when you smile. A few people have commented I am too young to get botox but CAPS believes the younger you start the less your wrinkles will appear as you get older.

After we discussed everything I wanted, it was go time. The first time I got botox you guys...you're gonna die. I literally had an anxiety attack and starting sweating and almost passed out. I don't like needles and I felt the needle going in my head and puncturing my muscle. When I went to CAPS I was like ok Nicole, get your game face on. There is gonna be a lot of a people around and you don't wanna look like a fool. Then the gates of Heaven opened up and they whipped out this tool...

See that gold thing right there? That is called the distractor, which is exactly what it does. I put on some Post Malone and they used the distractor and it was all done in less than a minute! I felt like a freakin champ. I got 28 units total.

Botox takes anywhere from 4-7 days to show up and a maximum of two weeks.

It lasts 3 months. It can last up to 4 months for some people!

Botox normally ranges between $10-$14 a unit and like I said lasts three months. You do not have to go every three months but I can definitely tell when I don't. If you live in Ohio you should definitely check out CAPS I will be going back there. They were awesome!

Thank you for having me CAPS

We had cupcakes and cake pops, prosecco at every corner and we raffled off a handbag. My new intern won! Yay Erin! Going to events is one of my favorite things and being able to host one and it turning out successful literally made me feel like a million bucks! Shoutout to these wonderful brands who sponsored the goody bags for the event:

Laser Hair Removal with Juvly

October 13, 2017

Hi babes! Today I'm going to take you through my experience at Juvly Aeshetics for my first treatment of Laser Hair Removal! Rated the #1 Medical Spa, I knew I was going to have great service at Juvly. I have already had two appointments there- one for Dysport (botox) and one for laser hair removal.

I honestly thought I always had a high pain tolerance but considering I almost passed out when I got my dysport treatment done, I was a tad nervous going into my laser hair removal appointment. I didn't know what to expect. I had never done it. I chose to get my under arms done first. Before you get lasered you cannot: use spray tan 2 weeks prior, must shave the area 24 hours prior, do not tweeze or wax at least a month prior and do not bleach.

When I went in, I had to fill out a questionaire to make sure I followed all of the instructions and I was a good candidate to have laser hair removal done. Once I got the go ahead, it was game time. They told me to expect small pains such as a flick from a rubber band. I asked how many "flicks" I would feel per arm and they said about 50. Everyone in the room put on their protective googles and she started. I swear to you guys it didn't hurt at all! It felt like a hair dryer was on my armpits. Before I knew it we were done.

You have to wait 6 weeks to schedule your next visit for laser on the same area and she said it would take 8-9 sessions to get the hair almost all of the way gone. I can't wait to go back for my next session! Make sure to check out Juvly for all of your medical spa needs!

Thank you to Juvly Aethestics for sponsoring today's post.
