NYFW 2018

September 19, 2018

Hey girls! I'm here to share with you my 6th time traveling to New York for fashion week and all the deets. I'm going to break down everything from the events, to outfits, places to go, advice and of course...the REAL life behind the infamous #NYFW. Ready for some juice? Let's goooo!

In the past seasons, I have focused on going to shows but I would come home and be like...I wish I would have done this or met with this person! So this season, Lindsay and I decided our main priorities were going to be taking amazing photos and meeting with companies we work with or would like to!

We met with PR companies such as Bollare, Behrman Communications and Tractenberg & Co. We attended the Lulu's party and had so much fun. One of my highlights was meeting Maria from @miamiamine and chatting with her and her husband. They were the nicest people! I also wanted to make sure I met with Marc Fisher and Warby Parker as those are two of my favorite companies and I wear their products daily!

FOOD

We tried out Rosemary's Pizza.... and we loved it! We split their chips + onion dip, shrimp cocktail, pepperoni pizza and margherita pizza. Yes we were hungry lol. Another place you guys have to try is called Da Nico located in Little Italy. Not only did we get in super fast without a reservation but it was hot, delicious and one of the best pastas I've ever had. I got chicken alfredo!

PHOTO SPOTS

Lindsay used to be a photographer so she took the liberty of finding us the best photo spots in NYC (so thankful for this)! Being that it rained half the time, we didn't get to go to all of them but our top picks were:

- Brooklyn Bridge: One of the oldest roadway bridges in the U.S! (Be prepared for it to be VERY busy unless you go super early or late) and watch out for the bike lanes....those bikers are on a mission. This bridge connects Manhattan and Brooklyn.

- High Line: The High Line is a 1.45 mile long elevated linear park. We visited here one of the days that it rained but honestly our photos turned out so good! I loved the view of NYC from here.

- Times Square: Known as the 'center of the universe' Times Square is probably the number one tourist attraction in NYC. Approximately 330,000 people walk through Times Square daily to give you a taste of how busy it is!

- Flatiron Building (175 5th Ave.): This building is considered a groundbreaking skyscraper. Known as one of the world's most iconic building and quintessential symbol of NY. We didn't make it here but tons of photo opps in front of this building!

- Dumbo: Have you ever watched Gossip Girl? Hello Lonely boy + Serena...trendy Dumbo's cobblestone streets are the perfect spot for chic street style photos.

I would like to call this category...the sh*t they don't tell you. You know how you see girls in heels, looking super chic? Yeah they are dying inside. You have to walk A LOT in NY and you are going to want comfy shoes. A tip is to bring bendy flats and keep them in your bag to change into after events/shows to help loosen the blisters. ALSO- I read to put deodorant on your feet so they don't get blisters.

Number 2, prepare to be freakin' hangry by the end of the day. Even if you only have 2-3 events you won't have time to eat unless you miss things or grab fast food. The first night we literally went straight to a meeting from the plane and didn't stop until 10pm. By then, our feet were killing us and we took showers and ordered McDonald's from UberEats (and it was PERFECT.)

3....You will spend sooo much time in Ubers unless you take the subway. Everywhere we went it took around 10-30 minutes even if it was close because of traffic. Make sure to leave early so you have plenty of time.

Some girls are.....well, how do I say this nicely.....FAKE. No I'm not talking about hair extensions, botox, spray tans (because I am guilty). I'm talking about the girls who you thought were super nice on social media then you see in person and they act like they don't know who you are. I can't tell you how fucking CLIQUEY the blogger world is. I have tons of friends and they are genuine but they are hard to find.

Whether I have 100 followers or a million I will act the same towards anyone who is nice to me. And if I don't someone better smack me because these girls need a reality check.

My top: Boohoo c/o
My joggers: Zella (most comfortable joggers in the WORLD)

Lindsay, Kate and I stayed at Aloft Manhattan in the Financial District and they were very accommodating. Our bed was so comfortable, it was quiet and we had the best coffee and breakfast everyday!

If you guys would like to know anything else about NYFW or think I should do another post with more details on how to get invited to things, etc. tell me in the comments or shoot me an email at whereyourheartisnow@gmail.com!

Until then, see you in February NYC! xx
